Facilitec Celebrates 25th Anniversary, Thanking Valued Clients, Partners and Staff!

Since its founding in 1991, Facilitec principal Bill Coons has led his company with a straightforward mission to help clients realize unique business goals by solving facility and space planning issues and enhancing the human experience in the workplace.  For 25 years Facilitec has provided its clients innovative and economical one-source solutions through a broad platform of comprehensive services including, commercial architectural design, furniture sales and installation and all non-construction pieces of office relocation management.  This strong business focus, combined with Facilitec’s own corporate culture, which highly values talent, passion and integrity, has contributed to its history of success and has enabled Facilitec to influence its own industry while contributing to the growth and success of many businesses in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast.

In 1992, shortly after relocating to Atlanta from New Jersey, Facilitec demonstrated that it could compete with Atlanta’s more established firms by winning a project for Simmons Corporation for its corporate headquarters relocation from Executive Park to The Concourse.  Facilitec continued to build its portfolio and enhance its reputation among Atlanta’s corporate community, and in 1996, marking a major milestone in Facilitec history, UPS retained the group to assist with space creation for five, 100,000 square foot corporate call centers in cities throughout the US.  Then, in the late 1990’s, Facilitec and partners were involved with projects for HomeBanc Corporation’s headquarters as well as seven of its Southeast facilities, each totaling 20,000 square feet.   Adding to its growing list of prestigious Atlanta-based businesses, Facilitec completed a 115,000 square-foot customer care facility for Georgia Power, and UPS again retained them as its procurement and implementation team for multiple sites in cities across the country.

2002 was an important year for Facilitec as it formalized its proprietary one-source process known as Facilitrac to help its clients better understand the complexities and implications of the relocation process.  This unique system drives the process from idea generation through project implementation, and, today, it still serves as a key differentiator between Facilitec and its competitors.

In 2008, despite a historic economic down-turn, Facilitec continued to grow, seizing the opportunity to acquire Office Interiors to add more traditional office furniture selection and installation services to its capabilities.  This proved to be a valuable acquisition which allowed Facilitec to continue to expand its business and industry reach beyond the commercial real estate sector and into state government, higher education and now healthcare.

Today, Facilitec continues to thrive with 2016 marking the most successful and profitable year in the company’s 25-year history.  Significant business growth in the healthcare sector included a six campus/30 building project for the State of Georgia’s mental health facilities, and the City of Atlanta selected Office Interiors as its preferred furniture vendor.

“Atlanta and the country’s business landscape have changed tremendously since we opened our doors in 1991, as have the spaces in which we all conduct business,” says Facilitec Founding Principal Bill Coons.  “The implementation of new technologies and the growing concern for employee well-being has significantly transformed the way we design and furnish office space.  As we experience a generational shift in the workplace, with more millennials joining the workforce, companies will place even more emphasis on creating the perfect workspace for its organization and its people.  As Facilitec enters its next quarter century in business, we are excited and ready to embrace these challenges, while continuing our tradition of providing clients innovative, functional and cost-effective workspaces.”
