The SAE Institute Atlanta Campus is located in the historic Cornerstone Building in the heart of downtown Atlanta. It was a sound challenge in the middle of a bustling city above a Hard Rock Café. All recording studios, classrooms, and control rooms had to be acoustically isolated from each other as well as from outside noise. Facilitec worked with world-renowned studio builder Michael Croninto to create a 17,230 square feet of space. Facilitec designed 4 recording grade studios, 3 classrooms one which was centered around a $100,000 audio board, break area and administration area. We handled the interior architecture and construction of the Institute.
Partitions are constructed as double-insulated walls to prevent sound migration between recording spaces. Additionally, a new concrete sub-floor was poured allowing for acoustical insulation between recording studios. Mechanical systems are designed to deliver airflow at low volume with lined ductwork and electrical service is filtered and conditioned to protect delicate equipment
